We engage in youth advocacy for our neighborhoods and work to provide opportunities to participate in community affairs. We have established relationships with other public and private community resources and have been leveraged into partnerships that provide services and support to address health, housing, employment, training and other human services needs of the West Ward Community in the city of Newark, NJ.
Gang Prevention- Program goals are straight forward: reduce gang violence and steer at-risk youth away from gang involvement. Teens are encouraged to continue their education, get jobs and become contributing members of the community.
Drug Prevention- The most cost effective and successful approach to dealing with youth and drugs is prevention. While many feel that scare tactics or enforcement are the best methods of preventing youth addiction, other methods are needed to communicate to the curious, recreational or experimental user of drugs.
School Choices (Charter Schools/College)- The School Fair will provide all prospective students, their parents and other interested parties with the opportunity to gather information on schools and to speak with representatives from these schools. Representatives will discuss and provide information on their schools as well as on admission requirements, academic standards and costs and financial aid.
